With the exception of Texas vs USC a few years ago, when those two were the only undefeated teams remaining, when has a BCS Championship Game even come close to providing a so-called #1 without controversy?
“The word national championship is a relative term,” [Kyle Whittingham, head coach of the Utah Utes] answered. “It’s an opinion. Until there is a playoff, that is all it’s going to be. It’s all opinion. There really is no hard and fast true champion in the system we have in place.”
